On December 31, 1937, he was born into a humble baking family. As a child, Anthony Hopkins struggled with dyslexia and often felt isolated at school. His grades were poor, and many of his teachers and classmates failed to see his potential.

Desperate for a solution, his father sent him to boarding school, hoping strict discipline might change him. But even then, the boy faced emotional neglect—his own father didn’t love him. For a child with big dreams, the world seemed like an uphill battle.

Fate, however, had other plans. One day, a chance encounter with legendary actor Richard Burton changed everything. Burton saw something special in the young Hopkins and encouraged him: “Try acting.” That simple advice would set him on a path that no hardship could stop.
